Lip Syncing

What is Lip Syncing?

Lip syncing is when a form of visual image is added to a pre recorded audio/studio track. One form of lip syncing is a music video when the pre recorded studio track is used during the shooting of the visual elements and then the recorded visual and audio are edited together and the visual is synced up to the track. Artist use the pre recorded studio tracks in there music video so they get the high quality sound which can be changed and adapted to sound exactly how they want using graphic equalizer and tuners. The other form of lip syncing is when a pre recorded track is used and a performer/artist sing or lip sings along to the track. This makes it look like she is singing live however comes with large risks.

When is it appropriate and when is it not appropriate to lyp sync?

People have different opinions on when it is appropriate to lip sync and when it is not. People see it as appropriate to lip sync during a music video. However they do not see it appropriate to for artist to lip sync during a live concert or show, as people have paid lots of money to see the live performance and expect to get the live performance experience. Artist can get away with doing this for years without people finding out however it does come with large risks as if found out people can claim the artist as being a fraud. An example of where a technical issue reviled that the artist was lip syncing to the track was with Ashleigh Simpson when singing apposably live on Saturday night live, a different song track started to play. Here is the news report of what happened.
