Mise En scene
Throughout the video Mise en scene is used in various ways to represent the band and it’s song in different ways to link to their genre. In the video all of the cast are dressed in casual clothing, for the women they are dressed in tight fitting clothing which expose skin to attract male gaze and to appeal to the target audience of young people around the age of 16-35, the colour themes on her costume are black and red to sexualised her even more and to show her of as the one the band member desires. The band member who appears in the video the whole way through is wearing casual clothing of t-shirt and jeans to make him relatable for the viewer however with this costume he wears a leather jacket which gives him his own identity and creates a toff man representation round him. Then further into the video his costume changes to a suit which changes colour, this is not stereotypically used in music video so it is unique to this song, also through the bright colours in the suit It creates a positive vibe and link to the upbeat happy vibe of the song. The setting for the main of video is based in a club which is relatable again for their target audience as it is somewhere they would go but also adds to the representation of their upbeat vibe the song gives off. The lighting in the whole video is high key and bright colours which again represents the video as positive, upbeat and happy.
CW
Throughout the video different camera angles are used to give of a different representation and to show the audience something different. To start of the video a establishing shot of one of the band members is used this shows the audience that he is alone representing him as having individuality as he not with a group of people following what they are doing. The as the song starts up a close up shot is used to make the band member the centre of attention and to highlight the performance aspect of the video as we can clearly see he is singing, this shot also highlights the bright colours in the background pulling out the potive vibe they give off. We then have the use of a slow zoom from a long shot into a mid shot of the girl the band member is dancing this shot lingers on her to attract male gaze and attention of the target audience but also shows that she is the one he desires through the use of the lingering. Long shots are then used to view different memories of him and the girl dancing showing to the audience these are the sorts of things which he want to happen, this shot shows the meaning of the song as it is not about dancing with the girl it is about getting her and being with her. Then lastly the use of hand held camera is used, this is not sterotipically used as it is unprofessional however in this case it is used to show the upbeat happy vibe happening as it is from the point of view of the girl.
Editing
Throughout the video different editing techniques, some of them being new and unique making this video stand out. In the video overlay of 1 of the band members is used, this makes his face the main thing making him the centre of attention and the most important so the audience focus on him. This stems from a type of pop art which come out years ago and when it did was very popular. We also have the use of CGI (computer generated images) to create the colourful background which are a key thing in the video. This creates upbeat vibe which links to the song and the representation of the song they are trying to create.
