Performance
In the performance part of the music video we intend to have the members on a small stage/ low platform in a minimalistic room. For the lighting we want to use a mixture of spot lights and stage washes for the stage area, the spot lights are going to be used to introduce each band member and as the song introduce there instrument they will be illuminated using an individual spot light . When the song starts to pick up we will use a stage wash to illuminate the whole band a merging them together instead of individual spotlights. The lights we will use to do this are some source 4 spot lights to do the individual spot lights.
For the stage wash we will use a industry standard theatre light called a Fresnel which comes with barn doors allowing the light to be narrowed down onto our small stage/platform to give a more realistic performance environment. These light will be mounted behind and above the camera to make the angles and position of them correct for a performance area and also so there is a full coverage of light on the individual band members, these lights are a older style light as they are halogen light bulbs instead of the modern day 21st century LED lighting. These lights will produce a warm white light (golden white) which is the stereotypical light colour for a minimalistic, indie/pop artist stage lighting, we are also having this colour to give a warm and closeness felling to the performance element, the colour is made possible by using the old style of halogen lighting. Contributing to this lighting we potentially are going to have a row of lights behind the band point out towards the crowed to give the representation of the performance element and to make it more realistic for the viewer that they’re performing on a stage. For this we will use either use old fashioned par 56’s halogen par can with long noses on these will produce a warm white colour the same as the spots and Fresnel’s, however with these lights we have the potential to change the colour using a coloured plastic filter called a gel. If we are uable to use the Par 56’s we will use the modern day equivalent which is a LED version which used DMX control to change the colour so which we can use to make a similar colour to the halogen Par 56’s or a different colour like we would using the gells. Below is a picture of the effect these lights would create, we intend to us different colour to what the picture shows. To run all the lighting we will have the use of a dimable circuit board so we can get the right intensity of light this will be controlled by a DMX unit. Below is a diagram of how it will all be connected up and the lights

Narrative
For the Narrative we intend to use different lighting based on the location and acting taking place, we intend to use high key and low key lighting to create different representations. We intend to use high key lighting in places like happy memories/moments however we also may use it as a way to represent the mental illness of the female actress in the video. We then intend to use low key lighting in the more down beat and sad scenes to contradict the high key lighting representing a positive and happy atmosphere. To create these lighting affects we will use the lighting from the performance part of the music video however changing angles and positions to manipulate the use of shadows and when making the lighting more naturalistic. We will also use the Dimable circuit to match the lighting to the atmosphere we are trying to create.
Camera
For the visual recording device we will be using a Cannon 700d as our main camera accompanied by a cannon 600d and a few canon legria HFr306 camcorders for any extra angles, Picture below of each camera.

The 2 DSLR cameras (cannon 600 and 700d) will have a standard lense of 18-55mm which will allow us to get a medium range wide angle to close shot. However we also have the use of a cannon 85-200mm lense for any extremely long distance shots as it allows us to get a more accurate long shot to what we want with the large zoom and we also have a 24mm cannon lense which will not allow us to do as wider shots as the standard lenses of the cameras but it will allow us to make certain objects stand out from the background more through the background becoming blurred but keeping the front object in perfect focus this lense will allow us to create a centre of attention around the object and also create more depth to the shots. Phots of each lense are below.

Sound
For any exstra sound we decide to record to make fouley, voice overs and diegetic or non-diegetic sound we have the use of 2 different types of audio recording system. The first one will be the inbuilt audio recording system in the Cannon 600 and 700d camera with a rode video prom mic attached. The 2nd recording system is a variety of different microphones (benhringer c3 microphone, dynamic senheigser) which will be decided depending on what needs recording. These will be connected to a Yamaha usb mixing desk, this allows us to change the eq and add effects to what we want to recording before we use the built in USB interference to connect it to a laptop and use Cubase sound recording software to record the sound.
